126 and counting. . . Have you or your family committed to doing anything 126 times this year?
That’s the number of youth nights, college prep sessions, trips and overnights that Aliyah’s attended in 2017. An unbelievable number knowing where this senior first began. Our most present leader today is the same 10-year old who sat with me, daily, on the St. Joe’s Pro-Cathedral steps during afterschool. One of the angriest children I’ve ever worked with, Aliyah used her profanity, attitude, and fighting as a way of asking for help. Abandoned by Mom at birth, and living through 18 years of addiction and incarceration with Dad, she wanted a different life for herself. In our eyes, Aliyah’s grandparents, who adopted and raised her are her angels on earth, but if you ask Aliyah and her grandparents, it’s LUCY that’s made all the difference. Through tremendous time, energy, patience and love, Aliyah’s knocking it out of the park, time and time again. Just this past week for example, it was Aliyah who assisted staff in leading programs, visited 2 college campuses, and was the keynote speaker, sharing what LUCY has meant in her life to a room full of corporate executives and staff.
Aliyah’s story is one of over 2,000 youth to-date, whose lives have been impacted in huge ways by LUCY. Your generosity and support enables us to provide this quality level of service and support to every youth and family, day in and day out.
Virtua has partnered with us in incredible ways this fall, providing us with a temporary home in an urgent time of need. Now we’re excited to finalize plans for the purchase of our dream home in the new year. While we continue to navigate this next big adventure, your support for our growth becomes even more important.
Please see the documents below that highlight our impact in 2017, and the goals we’ve set for the new year. You have and will continue to affect the lives of Camden’s youth and young adults, daily. Together we can ensure that all the “Aliyahs” of LUCY grow into resilient and successful young adults, who give back to their city in impactful ways.
We hope that you will be generous once again, and match or exceed your annual donation which enables us to touch more lives with our programs and services. Please return the donation card with your tax deductible donation or use the
